TWINNEDbySTARS will participate in Workshop 17 – From Isolation to Innovation, a face-to-face meeting to be held at the Clayton Hotel (Pegasus 3&4 Hall), within the Maritime Cooperation track, focusing on regional cooperation, sea basins, civil society and stakeholder relations.
This workshop aims to address the main challenges faced by these regions – from limited accessibility to environmental risks – while highlighting the unique opportunities they offer to boost ecotourism, astro-tourism and the enhancement of natural and cultural heritage.
During the session, exemplary initiatives will be presented, including the European projects TWINNEDbySTARS and ecoRoute, along with international experiences such as the Blue Flag certification. The event will also feature a keynote speech by the European Commission, focusing on the economic potential and sustainability of blue tourism in ORs.
The programme includes a panel discussion focused on:
- How to unlock the potential of maritime ecotourism in ORs;
- How to address common challenges related to the double transition (green and digital), the effects of climate change and the improvement of professional skills.
The workshop will conclude with a question and answer session to gather direct input from the audience. These contributions will feed into the policy recommendation reports of the TWINNEDbySTARS and ecoRoute projects, with the aim of generating real impact in the communities of the Outermost Regions.
