For the first time in 2024, the European Oceans Days are set to be a week of events related to European maritime themes. Organised from March 4 to 8, they will cover a wide range of topics, from the EU Oceans and Waters Mission to blue innovation and ocean literacy.
TWINNEDbySTARS immersed itself in the European Oceans Days on March 6 in Brussels. Presenting an introductory poster about their project. The poster entitled “Unlocking the potential of innovation, circularity, and digitalization for accelerating new marine-based ecotourism, joint practices, and businesses in ORs” describes the TWINNEDbySTARS project. This EMFAF-funded project aims to increase the competitiveness of maritime tourism in the Outermost Regions (ORs) while contributing to preserving biodiversity and cultural heritage. It focuses on strengthening existing partnerships, building capacity, and creating opportunities for co-creation to design and implement astro-tourism and eco-tourism experiences in four Atlantic Outermost Regions, from the Canary Islands to Martinique, the Azores, and Madeira.
The event encompassed a range of activities, including the Mission Restore Our Oceans and Waters forum, the “What Next for Europe’s Seas” event, BlueInvest Day, and Ocean Literacy in Action. Each of these events provided a platform for reflection, collaboration, and action for the oceans.
Join TWINNEDbySTARS and other leaders in marine conservation to drive change towards a more prosperous marine future—together, we can make a difference!
