TWINNEDbySTARS

The project aims at increasing the competitiveness of maritime tourism activity in remote territories while contributing to protecting marine biodiversity, preserving cultural heritage, and developing marine astrotourism. To do so, the project acts in three areas: strengthening partnerships already in operation, capacity building, and co-creation opportunities for the design and implementation of transnational eco-tourism products. The project extends across four Atlantic Outermost Regions, which are located at the natural nautical crossing of the Atlantic Ocean, taking advantage of the trade winds, the Canary Current, and the Gulf Stream, eastwards from the Canaries to Martinique and returning westwards via the Azores and Madeira.

✨🌘 Countdown to the 2026 eclipse 🌘✨On 12 August 2026, the sky will treat us to one of the most eagerly awaited spectacles: a total solar eclipse.🔭 From the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores, it will be partially visible, with the Sun covered by more than 70% to 80% depending on the island, just at the magical moment of sunset. Although the total eclipse will only be visible on the Iberian Peninsula, the Atlantic will become a privileged setting to enjoy this phenomenon under some of the clearest skies in Europe.🌍 The last total solar eclipse visible in the Canary Islands occurred in 1959. Now, almost seven decades later, the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores are preparing for an event that will attract visitors and once again highlight the value of the outermost regions as unique territories where the sea and the stars meet.✨ This event is not just an astronomical spectacle: it is also an opportunity to reinforce the Atlantic's potential as a destination for connecting science, nature and exciteme#twinnedbystarsS#Eclipse2026e#canaryislandsl#madeirad#Azoresz#astrotourismuriInstituto Universitario TidesTMarina do FunchalnNautic OceanOConsulta EuropauCluster Marítimo de CanariasaCentro Tecnológico de Ciencias MarinasrCTM Collectivité Territoriale de MartiniquenACIFACIF ... 🎧 What does the ocean sound like?In this powerful testimony recorded by Euronews, Misael Morales Vargas, marine biologist and founder of BIOSEAN , introduces us to a unique experience: listening to cetaceans in their natural environment through a hydrophone. There are no screens, no engine noise, no crowds. Just a small group, silence on board and the sounds of the sea as a soundtrack.🔊 Clicks, whistles, invisible frequencies... connecting us to something bigger than ourselves. This practice is part of the European TWINNEDbySTARS project, which supports companies such as BIOSEAN in their transition towards more respectful, immersive and transformative marine tourism📽️ Excerpt from the Euronews report.🔗 Source: © Euronews/European Commission, 2025#twinnedbystars #biosean #hydrophone #listeningto #theocean #cetaceans #responsiblemarinetourism #EUprojects #canaryislands #tenerife ... In this excerpt from Euronews' report on TWINNEDbySTARS, Gisela Dionisio, nature guide and marine biologist at Naturalist, shows us how marine tourism can be a tool for scientific research in Faial, Azores. Each trip out to sea is an opportunity to collect data on cetaceans and the state of the ocean, which is then shared with international research centres. At the same time, tourists enjoy an educational and transformative experience, gaining a better understanding of marine biodiversity and the value of protecting it.🌊 Knowledge does not stay on land. It sails. And so, science and tourism move forward together towards a more responsible model.📽️ This video is part of Euronews' report on the Europea#twinnedbystarsNEDbySTARS, which promotes innovative marine tourism in the outermost regions of the Atlantic.🔗 Source: © Euronews/European Commissi#twinnedbystarsn#faiala#Azoresa#tourismandsciencea#cetaceans##responsiblemarinetourismi#EUprojectse#oceanographye#ecotourismecotourism ... 🌊✨ Can marine tourism protect our oceans rather than harm them?In some of the most remote areas of the Atlantic, such as the Canary Islands, the Azores, Madeira and Martinique, TWINNEDbySTARS is helping small businesses transform the way they work at sea. Electric boats, hydrophones, star-guided navigation... A new model of tourism is possible, and it is already underway.🎥 In this interview, Dr Yen Lam González (ULPGC) explains how the project is setting the course for more respectful, innovative and competitive coastal tourism.🗣 Available in English, Spanish, French and Portuguese.📍Video produced by @euronews for the European Commission.🔗More information: twinnedbystars.eu/2025/07/30/twinnedbystars-stars-in-the-new-episode-of-euronews-ocean-documentar... 🔗 Watch the full report: www.euronews.com/green/2025/07/29/how-atlantic-islands-are-proving-tourism-can-help-the-ocean#twinnedbystars #marinetourism #canaryislands #Azores #madeira #martinique #blueeconomy #astrotourism #hydrophones #sustainabletourism #EuroNews #EUintheWorld ... 🌊🐋 Whale watching can be magical... or dangerous 🐬📸A study carried out by ULPGC in the Canary Islands, Madeira and the Azores reveals that many tourists decide to embark without knowing the basic rules of respect for whales and dolphins.📢 The fact: More than 50% do so on impulse, after seeing a brochure or a spectacular image.👧👦 The key? Children. They are the ones who value the educational component the most and can become the best defenders of the sea. From TWINNEDbySTARS we remember: it's not only what you see, but how you see it.Let's make whale watching a responsible, sensory and educational experience.#TwinnedbyStars #ResponsibleTourism #Canary Islands #Azores #Madeira #NauticalTourism #EnvironmentalEducation #Astrotourism #SlowTravel #Let'sTakeCareOfTheOceInstituto Universitario TideseMarina do FunchalrNautic OceanaConsulta EuropaCCluster Marítimo de CanariasiCentro Tecnológico de Ciencias MarinasiCTM Collectivité Territoriale de MartiniqueeACIFMartiniqueACIF ...
