Atlantic Starlight Adventures

Atlantic Starlight Adventures is a multi‑destination tourism product created within TWINNEDbySTARS, uniting nautical operators from Madeira, the Canary Islands, Martinique and the Azores around a shared Atlantic “night‑sky” narrative.

The initiative offers curated sailing experiences that blend night sailing, sunset crossings and constellation observation, inviting visitors to experience the Atlantic as ancient navigators once did – guided by the stars.

What makes it different

Joint Atlantic platform

The product connects multiple small and medium‑sized enterprises in four outermost regions through a common brand, coordinated marketing and shared sustainability standards, while preserving the individuality of each operator’s offer.

Focus on dark‑sky protection

Every experience is designed to highlight the value of dark skies and the importance of reducing light pollution, with on‑board interpretation that links astronomy, local ecosystems and responsible tourism practices.

Story‑driven experiences

Activities weave together constellations, navigation traditions, marine wildlife and local culture, turning each route into a story about the Atlantic Ocean and its islands.

Example experiences

  • Night sailing & stargazing cruises
Short evening or night‑time trips that combine sailing under low‑light conditions with guided constellation tours, basic astronomy and discussions about dark‑sky protection.
  • Sunset inter‑island routes
Half‑day or full‑day sails timed with sunset, often including coastal interpretation, local gastronomy on board and introductory star observation once the sky darkens.
  • Multi‑day Atlantic crossings
Itineraries that connect at least two islands or regions (for example Canary Islands–Madeira or Azores–Madeira), with two or more nights at sea focused on astro‑navigation, marine biodiversity and sustainable seamanship.
