On 15 November 2025, the Misus B sailing boat docked at Puerto de Mogán (Gran Canaria), marking the end of a very special voyage: one of the first experiences offered by Atlantic Star Adventures (ASA), a new tourism product that combines sailing, stargazing and discovering the natural heritage of Europe’s outermost regions. This new product is being promoted on the different islands involved in the project by companies from the TWINNEDbySTARS community, which are contributing to its promotion and adaptation in each territory.
The voyage, promoted by Xavier Martínez of Nautic Ocean, departed from Barcelona, the symbolic starting point of this journey. In Madeira, they met with the companies already participating in the project and set sail for Tenerife, where they went whale watching with hydrophones and toured the eastern coast of the island, one of the areas richest in marine biodiversity in the archipelago, together with Misael Morales, director of BIOSEAN and also part of the project.
The journey, covering more than 400 nautical miles and mainly sailed between Madeira and the Canary Islands, followed the same route once taken by Christopher Columbus, guided by the trade winds and the stars.
An encounter with the marine biodiversity of the Canary Islands
During their stopover in Gran Canaria, participants enjoyed an immersive experience focused on marine biodiversity and responsible sailing.
The final event, held in collaboration with SEO/BirdLife, included sea trips for stargazing, as well as a presentation open to the public on the importance of conserving marine ecosystems and promoting environmentally friendly tourism.
These activities were in addition to those carried out during previous stopovers in Madeira and Tenerife, where participants enjoyed stargazing sessions, educational workshops and ocean sailing experiences.
A journey that unites Atlantic territories under the same sky
Atlantic Star Adventures symbolises the connection between Atlantic territories under the same starry sky, promoting cooperation between destinations and the development of new forms of experiential tourism in the Atlantic.
The tour, which began in Barcelona with stops in Madeira and Tenerife before arriving in Gran Canaria, included visits to the Desertas Islands and the Savage Islands, natural areas of great ecological value that reflect the richness and diversity of the Atlantic.
Through astronomy, navigation and environmental education, the first Atlantic Star Adventures experience has established itself as an example of tourism innovation and Atlantic collaboration, connecting culture, science and sustainability from the sea and the stars.
The routes and experiences offered by Atlantic Star Adventures (ASA) are available on the official platform www.atlanticstaradventures.com.
